The Annual Terry M. Mikiten Graduate Student Research Forum is an annual student-hosted forum funded in part by the Mikiten Family in honor of Terry Mikiten, PhD. Dr. Mikiten was a faculty member at UTHSCSA for 33 years. He retired in 2002 and was honored with the title of Professor Emeritus in the Department of Physiology. In 1984, Dr. Mikiten enabled the graduate students to establish the first Graduate Student Research Forum at UTHSCSA. In 2008, the Mikiten family established the Dr. Terry Mikiten Endowment for Excellence in Graduate Education in honor of Dr. Mikiten’s work. Since then the GSA has been hosting the Mikiten Research Forum annually.
Last year, the GSA hosted the largest Mikiten Research Forum yet, from breakfast to an afternoon wine and cheese networking hour, with 100+ attendees and 95 grad student, postdoc, and undergraduate research presentations. We were able to award winning presenters with grand prizes and we hope to replicate this feat again this year, and we need your help!
Please sign up for this year’s Mikiten Planning Committee to help us keep this tradition going! This is a great opportunity to get involved in the graduate school community and gain volunteer and leadership experience. In order to join, please fill out the form below:
